Dr Stephen Thompson

Dr Stephen studied Sports Science in London for 3 years prior to studying Medicine in the RCSI Dublin, graduating in 2006. After qualifying he worked for 5 years in hospital medicine spending time in numerous specialities including 2 years in surgery.

Dr Stephen has been in Family Medicine for 7 years, completing the General Practice training scheme in 2013 and becoming a member of the Irish College of General Practitioners.  He completed a Masters in Sports Medicine in UCC in 2016, and is also currently working as race doctor for the cycling race the ‘Ras’.  Prior to moving to the Hampson Surgery, Dr Stephen worked in Cabra with the Milligan family Practice for almost 4 years.

His special interests include sports medicine, surgery, men’s health, psychiatry and children’s medicine.

He is married with 5 young sons.
